The Intel Sponsored Summer Internship Program, offered by Central State University and hosted by Wright State, aims to train students in semiconductor manufacturing.
On June 3, 2024, we celebrated an excellent and fun-filled day at Wright State University with the kickoff event for the second Intel/AFRL event focused on empowering women and underrepresented minorities. Leadership from Central State University, Intel Corporation, and AFRL Scholars Program, United States Air Force, emphasized the importance of STEM workforce development in semiconductor microelectronics, clean room fabrication, security, PCB fabrication, and additive manufacturing of electronics.
This program is designed to foster collaboration between academia and industry, hosting and training 35 interns this year to prepare them as professionals in the semiconductor and microelectronics manufacturing industry.
Special thanks to Intel’s Vice President, James Evers, Mindy Murdock, and WSU President, Dr. Susan Edwards, as well as WSU Provost, Amy Thompson, Vice Provost for Research and Innovation, Madhavi Kadakia, Dean Subhashini Ganapathy, Dean of Wright State University’s College of Graduate Programs and Honors Studies, Dean Darryl Ahner, College of Engineering and Computer Science at Wright State University, Associate Dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science, Dr. Doom, and Chair of CES, Dr. Thomas Wischgoll, for their attendance and supportive remarks.
We look forward to hosting this event annually and aim for continued success and collaboration in the future.
